A standing desk moves, and your cables have to move with it. Set them up right once, then the desk can go up and down all day without pulling a plug.

1. Start at full height
Raise the desk all the way up before you route anything. That shows you how much cable each device really needs.
2. Bundle the desktop cables
Gather monitor, laptop, and accessory cables into one bundle with reusable cable ties.
3. Attach to the desk, not the wall
Strap the bundle to the desk frame so it rides up and down with the desk instead of stretching.
4. Make one slack loop
Where the bundle drops to the floor, leave a single loop long enough for full height. Hold it with an elastic cinch strap, which flexes as the desk moves.

5. Run it down and up
Lower the desk all the way, then raise it again. Watch for pinched cables or plugs pulling loose and adjust.
6. Keep chargers on top
A desktop cable organizer keeps phone and watch chargers in reach at any height.
Common mistakes
- Too little slack: cords that fit at sitting height pull loose at standing height.
- Strapping to the wall: the bundle stretches every time the desk rises.
- Cords on the crossbar: anything resting on a moving part can get pinched. Strap it clear.
- Forgetting the floor: keep the slack loop off the floor so chair wheels can't roll over it.
Recommended: Elastic Cinch Straps
